Burts Chips

Burts logoMarket leaders in the hand fried potato chip world, Burts Chips started life in South Devon in 1997. The company manufactures high quality, award winning hand-fried potato chips in a fiercely competitive sector of the market and has experienced rapid growth since the start.

To meet the consistently growing customer demand, Burts Chips relocated to a new purpose-built manufacturing facility at Roborough on the outskirts of Plymouth.

Wherever possible Burts’ potatoes are delivered from Devon farms, sorted, peeled and sliced before being batch, fried and seasoned. From a limited range in 1997, Burts Chips now produce 10 distinct flavours including Sweet Chilli (with Chilli’s sourced from South Devon Chilli Farm), Pesto – new this year and Smoked Bacon flavour chips (sourced from Denhay in Dorset)! They also produce a range of Childrens Chips and a Vegetable Roots range to compliment the traditional choice.

Each bag of chips is personalised with the name of the fryer on the back, you can find out more about each one on their fun and interactive website.

Burts Chips are available at a growing number of independent retailers across the country as well as the major supermarket chains, however more excitingly is their success overseas which currently sees Burts Chips on shelves in over 25 countries worldwide! This international trade is expected to help the businesses’ turnover grow from £8m to a staggering £14m in 2011.

This business is quite literally rooted in Devon and has grown to become a world leader in the high growth market of premium crisps. It has even managed to become the number one premium crisp in Holland.
