Digital and creative

Bray Leino, Fillegh

A communications agency like no other

Now employing almost 400 people at sites across the country, including Bristol and Devon, Bray Leino still carries out most of its creative and digital work at the Filleigh office near Barnstaple.

Back in the 70s, two friends decided to leave their top London advertising agency jobs and set up shop amidst the fine countryside and peaceful surroundings of north Devon, taking  the maiden names of both their wives and put them together to come up with the name of their new agency, Bray Leino.

Now employing almost 400 people at sites across the country, including Bristol and Devon, Bray Leino still carries out most of its creative and digital work at the Filleigh office near Barnstaple.

One of the criticisms levelled at the founders almost 40 years ago, by their London colleagues upon learning of their plan, was that they’d never attract the talent away from the capital to make it work.

This fear proved unfounded and Bray Leino now compete with the major London agencies on a national stage; working with clients like Virgin Atlantic, Brittany Ferries, BP, Castrol and Thatchers Cider.

What the agency offers isn’t a slower or easier pace of working life. It’s a high-pressure, creative, competitive industry, no matter where you’re based. But what they offer is something London agencies can’t, the chance to live in a beautiful, rural but vibrant part of the world while doing a job they love.

Earlier this year, the agency won a Gold accreditation from the advertising industry body, the IPA, for the way it supports and develops its staff.
