Our road network provides ready access across the county, with longer journeys made easier by main arterial roads including the M5, A30 and A38 Devon Expressway. Average journey times from Exeter to London Heathrow or Birmingham are under 3 hours.
The South Devon Link Road, which opened in December 2015, improves access to Torbay and South Devon providing faster journey times.
Plymouth offers the shortest ferry route to western France and the Iberian Peninsula via Spain, with regular services provided by Brittany Ferries. The port supports a wide range of roll on-roll off operations and is equipped with purpose-built facilities for freight and passengers.
Most of our urban areas and market towns already enjoy fast and reliable broadband, and with £94m being invested as part of the Connecting Devon and Somerset project, superfast broadband is being rolled out across rural areas too.
