Adding to the list of dynamic Devon based IT and digital firms that are announcing expansion plans,one of Devon’s most exciting start-up businesses is pushing forward with a £1.5 million overseas expansion, despite only being up and running since 2011.
Crowdcube ; based in Exeter , provide an online crowdsourcing platform, which connects businesses in need of capital with ‘armchair investors’, allowing smaller scale investments from multiple sources. So far this process has connected over 50,000 small scale funders with business ventures, raising over £16 million.
Crowdcube plan to partner with Milan based new media venture company : Xanda, in order to make use of their local business knowledge , and this is also taking place alongside similar ventures in New Zealand and Spain. The business aims to have these ventures all up and running by early 2014.
Phillip Letts, CEO of blur Group ; who have just relocated to Exeter , firmly maintains that ‘ Exeter has the ingredients to be Europe’s San Francisco, and the South West the new Silicon Valley ‘ . Looking the host of recent expansion news from these sectors in Devon, it does certainly seem like Phillip’s prediction is set to come true!
